I know that humans across the world are all talking about getting their covid vaccines at the moment, but today Gizmo went to have his annual check up and vaccination.
He is not a fan of the cat carrier, and even less happy about the journey in the car. How do I know this!? Because he shouts at me throughout the entire journey… 🤦♀️ Not ideal when I’ve been fighting to get rid of the headache I’ve had for 3 days…
Once he is in the examination room, he is not as vocal, but he does transform into a wriggly kitty who wants to explore (and hide from the dreaded thermometer 🙀).
Luckily for Gizmo, Anna the vet was lovely, and handled Gizmo and his antics brilliantly!
Firstly, he went on the scales and has lost some weight since his last vet visit, but he wasnt keen to stay still!
Then Anna checked his teeth, and found he has a slight chip in one of his canines 🙀 but it isn’t causing him any pain. I will keep an eye on it though.
Usually when Giz has a vaccine, it takes two of us – me to hold him and stop him from wriggling, and the vet to vaccinate. But because of covid, Anna had to cope with him on her own…
She cleverly wrapped him in one of his blankets and put him back in his box, and very quickly managed to vaccinate him without fuss. Gold star Anna 🌟
After this, Giz was still keen to get out of the box, so we let him have a bit of freedom to explore the room.
He walked straight to the door next to me and sat down, before lifting his paw and tapping the door and then staring up at me.
Anna seemed to wonder what he was doing…
I burst out laughing, before explaining…
At home we have taught Gizmo to tap a door with his paw if he wants the door to be opened by a human… so he was disappointed when he clearly wanted to leave the consultation room and I refused to open the door for him 😆
Instead, I put him back in his travel box , thanked Anna for her work and put Giz back in the car.
So Gizmos vaccination is done for another year, and he didn’t get a thermometer today…. Phew 😹
