The Snow Globe of Life…

I think of life as being similar to a snow globe…

You know the ones…the magical looking globe ornaments, usually filled with a winter scene and glitter/snow particles, and when you turn them upside down the snow begins to move around in all directions, before settling back on the base.

A perfect winter wonderland encapsulated in glass dome.

It can look magical and enchanting, but at the same time, unpredictable and stormy – but hypnotic all the same. I have such fond memories of being mesmerised by snow globes as a child, but as an adult, I feel like I’m living in one…

Life can be ticking along without issue, until a situation unexpectedly occurs and you find yourself in the centre of a wild storm…and it’s not always a bad thing.

Someone, or something has literally tipped your world upside down, and the storm rages violently with no end in sight…

There are some people who enjoy nothing more than shaking someone else’s globe; just because they can. In fact, they shake and shake and shake because they want to see how long it takes to break it. They enjoy creating a storm in someone elses life, whilst they sit at the sideline, watching the drama unfold.

But its not necessarily a person that causes a storm; it can be a situation that’s out of your control, and all you can do is take a deep breath, ride out the storm and work out how you can defend yourself before the next storm comes…because the one thing you can be certain of in life is that another storm will come.

Life throws us challenges, and it’s up to us how we deal with them.

Well, that’s where I find myself at the moment, caught in the middle of job uncertainty, financial strain, and countless other issues that seem to have snowballed out of control in the last few weeks… Relentlessly one after another, with no time to guard against the next one before it sets in. And actually, this storm could be a good thing for me. It’s put my life into perspective.

I know this storm won’t last forever. In the grand scheme of things, this is temporary; soon the blizzard will fade, and I will see clearly again…

But for now, I’m taking back control of my globe; putting it out of harms way as I work out my next move…

This wont break me, but I will make sure my storm defences are much stronger in the future… ❤️
